Our Story
Our story began in January 2021, when Ashley joined Atrium Health. Heather was one of the trainers for the department, and for the first few months, we worked together in person. At the time, it was strictly professional—just two colleagues, one navigating a new role and environment, and the other as a confident, kind, and quietly magnetic teammate. After that initial period, our work shifted to remote, and our interactions continued over the phone.
Years passed, and while we stayed connected through work, it wasn’t until much later that something deeper began to form. When Ashley moved on to MedCenter Air, our paths didn’t diverge—they quietly aligned. We started spending more time together outside of work, and slowly, a friendship began to blossom.
During a particularly difficult time in Ashley’s life, Heather was there—steadfast, compassionate, and unwavering. Her support was more than just friendship; it was a lifeline. In those moments, we discovered a bond that went beyond shared responsibilities or casual conversation.
We found joy in the things we loved—hockey and baseball became our shared passions. We cheered, debated, and celebrated together. And while we’re alike in many ways, we are completely different in other ways, but sometimes those differences make us stronger. We complement each other in the most beautiful ways.
What started as a simple working relationship grew into a deep friendship, and then into something extraordinary—a love built on trust, laughter, resilience, and shared dreams. Today, we’re not just best friends. We’re partners in life, in love, and in every adventure yet to come.
The Proposals
Our proposals (yes, proposals
) began on April 4, 2025, as we headed to Atlanta for Opening Weekend with the Braves. What Heather didn’t know was that I had a surprise planned before the trip even officially began. Instead of our expected hotel, I had secretly booked a stay at one of her bucket-list locations — the Omni at The Battery. After checking in and soaking it all in, we headed down to The Battery itself, stopping at our usual spot to take a photo, just like we always do.
That’s when Heather surprised me by getting down on one knee and proposing. The moment was perfectly us — emotional, joyful, and completely unexpected. Even more special, it was beautifully captured on video and in photos by our dear friend Corey and her daughter Heidi, who drove up just to document this once-in-a-lifetime moment.
We celebrated that night at the Braves game, with plans to grab brunch with Corey and Heidi the next morning. But what Heather didn’t know was that I had one more surprise up my sleeve. I had secretly hired a photographer to meet us back at the same spot the following morning — and that’s where I got down on one knee and proposed to her.
Two proposals. Same place. One perfect weekend.
That’s our endgame — choosing each other, always.
